St Augustine's Art Show

ALICE
Another successful St Augustine Art Show was held over the weekend. Friday night opening was crowded with happy social people and quite a few sales. I was fortunate to sell a large painting LAST LIGHT and a small painting ALICE. My little ladies always attract a buyer at this art show. They are quirky and such fun to paint.
I also received the Peoples Choice Award for my painting LAST LIGHT

New Paintings

Some may remember my series of snow paintings which proved to be well accepted in the local art scene. I
have decided to revisit my snow scenes and this time paint them on yupo. Here is my first full sheet yupo attempt which has resulted in a loose but dramatic effect.

FRESH FALL

My neighbour has a persimmon tree and I find myself often gazing at the fruit left hanging during winter. I have painted this tree with it's stunning orange fruit again on yupo but have added watercolour pencils  as an experiment. The result has left me wanting to do more.

Arcade Colour

ARCADE COLOUR

Another of my yupo night scenes. This is only a quarter sheet. I like the way the colours have run down the sheet and so eliminates the need to put in shadows. Also the striped awning and tourquise strip seem to balance the scene.

New Painting

                                   FANNING THE FLAMES

Just finished this painting of a chef working in a smokey kitchen. She was fanning the flames before the lamb was to go on. I am happy with the limited pallette and just a hint of red as this creates atmosphere. The background was painted the day before and allowed to dry then the subject rubbed out and painted in the next day.

Ev Hales Watercolour Workshop

May 25 and 26 was a very informative couple of days spent at the Albury Wodonga Artists Society studios where myself and eleven others were treated to demos and personal help from Ev Hales a well known watercolour tutor from Hurstbridge.
I find that I always bring home some new information and inspiration. One never stops learning.
A pastel workshop is coming up soon and that will be welcome break from my watercolours.
